Cyber Day



The Parthenon is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Greece.  The construction the Parthenon started in 447 B.C. and it was completed in 432 B.C.  The purpose of it was to house a massive statue called Athena Parthenos.  It was made from ivory, silver, and gold.  Its decorative sculptures are considered some of the high points of Greek art.  The Parthenon is regarded as an enduring symbol of Ancient Greece.  


The Valley of the Temples is located outside the city of Agrigento, Sicily.  The remains of these seven Greek temples is called the Valley of the Temples.  The Temple of Concordia, built is the 5th centurt B.C. , is the best Temple Duric that has been standing and is still one of the largest. Other Temples in the Valley are the Temple of Juno, use for weddings, and the temple of Heracles, which is the oldest Temple at the site which today consists of only eight columns.   

Paestum is an ancient Greci-Roman city in southern Italy, not far from the beach.  The side shows three fairly well preserved Greek temples.  The oldest temple is Paestum is the Temple of Hera, it was built around 550 B.C. by Greek colonists.  Today the remainder of the ciry is found in the modern Fraizione of the same name, which is part of the comune of Capaccio in the Province of Salerno, Campania, Italy.
